PTA organizes an annual “get-to-know-you-again” event on the lower playground. Families can bring their own picnic dinners or purchase food from local caterers. A DJ plays groovy tunes so your kids (and perhaps you) can dance. This year, the BBQ will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017. Los Gringos Locos will be offering kids' and adult meals (includes chips, salsa, beans, rice and a beverage) for purchase. To pre-order meal tickets, please click on the "OCOF" link to the left. Every year, the PTA provides complimentary breakfast treats at the first day of school PTA meeting, held in the Multipurpose Room.

Every year, a PCR committee of parent volunteers solicits nominations for and chooses recipients of Founders Day Awards. These awards recognize parents, teachers and community members who have made significant contributions to Palm Crest Elementary.

This committee handles the PTA membership drive throughout the year. Becoming a PTA member allows you voting privileges and demonstrates that you support the essential work PTA does to support our school and our kids. We are striving for 100% participation!

Room representatives are the main liaison between teachers and classroom parents. They help organize and recruit classroom volunteers for parties, field trips, special presentations and large PTA events (such as Fallapalooza). Sign up at the first day of school PTA meeting on Monday, August 15, 2017.

The PCR PTA sponsors two luncheons for staff and teachers each year, one in December and one in the Spring of 2018. They are small gestures of our thanks and appreciation to our staff and teachers for the fantastic work they do, day in and day out.

Parent volunteers provide complimentary snacks for the teacher lounge. Sign-ups for each individual week; multiple sign-ups allowed.

The PCR PTA produces and distributes an annual school directory, which includes key school staff contact information, classroom lists, along with personal listings for any PCR families who wish to be included. They are available for purchase for $9 through the online PTA Store. Buy more than one, so you have one for home and one for your car!

PTA volunteers work with Principal Hurley to post weekly notices on the large sign in front of the school.

The PCR PTA has created a one-stop online shop, where families can purchase PTA memberships, yearbooks, directories, Back To School BBQ tickets and other items throughout the school year. From the left-hand nav bar, go to "PTA" --> "PTA Store" link.

The PCR PTA oversees the process by which parents can purchase much-needed school supplies for their child(ren)'s classroom(s). Parents can either place online orders for pre-packaged school supplies through Educational Products, Inc. (EPI) during the summer, or, after the deadline passes, they may take the lists and purchase the supplies on their own at local office supply stores. PTA purchases and puts together the ubiquitous "Golden Folders" that carry important information home from your child's classroom. They go home every Thursday, so make it part of your after school routine to go through the folders with your child. Stay in the loop!

The PCR PTA maintains its own website, where pertinent information about PTA programs, events and school announcements are posted throughout the school year.

Palm Crest parent volunteers produce a beautiful memory book every year. It's filled with formal class photos along with loads of fun candids from all of the major events held at Palm Crest (and beyond!). PCR PTA partners with Mrs. Nelson's Book Company to put on a 4-day book fair every year. Students and their families can buy a wide variety of books for themselves and their PCR teachers. This year's Book Fair is scheduled to occur from October 30 to November 2nd, 2017. Click here to see the volunteer schedule.

PTA organizes "Dine Outs" – promotional events scheduled at various local restaurants – where a percentage of the evening's sales are donated to the PCR PTA.

In addition to organizing various fundraisers throughout the year, the PCR PTA depends heavily on direct donations from parents and other PTA supporters. Monetary donations may be made online through the PTA Store or through the "donate" button. We appreciate your support.

PCR's largest annual fundraiser, Fallapalooza is a family carnival that boasts game booths, a student talent show, delicious food and a spectacular teacher experience raffle. Fallapalooza will be held on Saturday September 23, 2017.

The Palm Crest PTA is hosting the 5th annual golf tournament fundraiser, the 2018 Palm Crest Golf & Tennis Open, on Monday, April 23, 2018. Join other PCR parents and friends for a great day of golf at the La Canada Flintridge Country Club.

The Palm Crest PTA Dad's Committee is hosting the 4th annual Palm Crest Golf & Tennis Open on Monday, April 23, 2018. If you don't plan on playing in the tournament, there are ample opportunities to volunteer and sponsor. This program lists all of the sponsorship opportunities.

Each year the La Canada Flintridge Educational Foundation sponsors the Jog-A-Thon. Volunteers are needed on the day of the event to help keep track of the kids' laps, pass out popsicles and distribute water.

Students design their own artwork to be reproduced on various items (mouse pads, puzzles, note cards, etc...)available for purchase.

With just a quick click of your mouse, you can help PCR PTA earn valuable funds through our Passive Fundraising partnerships with companies such as Ralphs and Amazon.

Parent volunteers assist in the upkeep of the school’s disaster storage bin, along with disaster drills scheduled during the school year.

Parent volunteers assist in providing hearing tests to PCR students. Hearing testing will occur on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 this school year.

Parent volunteers assist Barbara Pahk, school librarian, with art displays, bulletin boards, book re-shelving, labeling and check-out. Weekly 1 ½ hour commitment.

Parent volunteers find, organize and publicize lost student items in designated Lost & Found area. Volunteer signups available at the first day of school PTA meeting.

Parent volunteers assist in planning and staffing the event, or present a booth showcasing a country and its culture. Event date is Wednesday March 14, 2018.

Parent volunteers plan and implement programs that promote nutrition awareness, healthy eating in the cafeteria and physical fitness.

Parent volunteers help students get ready for their class photos, supervise group pictures and assist with the transition of each classroom group. Thursday, September 7th & Friday, September 8th, 2017.

Parent volunteers assist in planning and staffing events during PCR’s annual drug awareness week.

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for that provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. Parent volunteers help publicize the event, oversee PCR’s student entries and organize recognition party for all participants. The theme for the 2017-18 school year is "Within Reach."

Parent volunteers help with school upkeep by organizing and participating in beautification projects such as gardening, painting, trash pick-up, etc.

Parent volunteers help organize end-of-year activities for the sixth grade classes.

The Garden Docents Program works on designing, planting and tending our school garden.

PCR's Junior Math Olympiad program is for 3rd and 4th graders who are interested in extending their mathematical competency. Junior Math Olympiad is a development program to help prepare 3rd and 4th graders for the Mathematical Olympiad for Elementary and Middles Schools (MOEMS) program. MOEMS is an international mathematics competition for grades 4 through 8. PCR competes in the Elementary division (i.e. grades 4 through 6.) PCR sponsors a team of 4th through 6th graders to compete in Math Olympiad during the season -- November through March. The team meets weekly on Wednesdays or Thursdays after school from 3 to 4PM. Junior Math Olympiad introduces students to mathematical problem solving and develops student's prerequisite computational skills. Junior Math Olympiad meets on Fridays from 3:00 to 4:00pm after school in the MPR.

The PCR Dads Committee is a group of fathers and grandfathers who meet throughout the school year and identify ways to support PCR PTA activities.

PTA sponsors this fun annual event to help welcome new families to PCR. Volunteers scoop ice cream, give campus tours and distribute welcome flyers. Friday, August 11th @ 5:00 pm in the Multipurpose Room.

Show your school spirit and don some Panther Wear – T-shirts, sweatshirts, and other accessories that sport a custom PCR design.

Party Books are social events for parents or kids that are hosted or sponsored by a parent, involve a limited number of participation slots, and help to raise money. Examples of Party Books held last two years include: a PCR Tennis Party for parents at the Flint Canyon Tennis Club, a special evening out at the Magic Castle, a Pedal Spin Party for parents, a Minecraft Kid Party for young coders at UCode, and an evening out for parents and kids at an escape room.
